Travels and weekend getaways are awesome, and I can’t wait to plan my next vacation, but what’s happening in between? There are daily discoveries, places I just discovered or past favorites worth revisiting. Lately, I’ve been thinking about a new article series – Sights and Bites of the month, covering some of the things I liked every month, whether is something to eat, a place to visit, a new bookstore, something interesting that just happened in the city and around, or a beautiful view. That being said, I put together my favorite Sights & Bites in July:
The glowing city during Pride
There was something exuberant and joyful in the air that day. Like the city came back to life stronger than ever.

Ice cream from the Castro Fountain
I stop here for ice cream every time I’m in Castro. My favorites: coconut ice cream and Goey Butter Cakes.

More ice cream? IT’S IT ICE CREAM – A LEGENDARY FOOD OF SAN FRANCISCO
Stinson Beach
One of my favorite beaches around the city, but not during the summer, or at least not on the weekend, when a 1-hour ride from San Francisco can turn into a 3-hours journey.
Dog Eared Books
This small bookstore in Castro has a lot of gems waiting to be discovered.
Dog Eared Books: 489 Castro St. San Francisco, CA 94114
Ocean Beach on a foggy day
There’s something with this fog. I may constantly complain about my lost summer, but I can’t deny: I love the hazy days at Ocean Beach.
Hot dogs from Pink’s in Los Angeles
One of the bost hot dogs I’ve ever eaten. But don’t expect to get your hands on these tasty treats without a long wait.
Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N La Brea Ave Los Angeles, CA 90038
Evening settles over the city from Billy Goat Hill
It’s peace and quiet here, at Billy Goat Hill.

Favela Acai Bowl at Mercado do Brasil
The acai bowls at Mercado do Brasil in Mission are huge and delicious.

Flowers on Muni
When riding Muni all day is not that bad, because I get to see this.
The city without Karl
Sometimes, Karl decides to go on vacation, and I finally have this view from my living room.
